What Happens to the Price If the Examination Changes the Plan
The consultation is allowed to change what you came for. What that should do to the quote, and what to agree in advance.
A Plan That Cannot Change Is Not a Plan
The examination exists so that a surgeon can look at you rather than at photographs. If it can only confirm what was already sold, it is a formality.
Which means the price has to be able to move in both directions, and you should know how before you fly.
Three Ways a Plan Changes
It becomes smaller, because less is needed than the photographs suggested. It becomes different, because another procedure suits you better. Or it stops, because now is not the right time.
Ask what happens to your money in each of those three cases, separately. They are usually treated differently.
If It Becomes Larger
Ask who authorises additional work, when you are told, and whether you can decline it and continue with the original plan. Ask whether the decision would ever be made while you are under anaesthetic.
The answer to that last question should be clear and it should be conservative.
If the Answer Is Not Yet
This is the outcome that tests a clinic. Ask what would be refunded, what would be held, and whether the assessment already done would count if you returned later.
Clinics that answer this well are the ones that give the answer at all.
Put It in One Message
Send the three scenarios in a single message and ask for the answers in the same message. It takes one exchange and it removes the situation where you are deciding money questions in a waiting room in another country.
Not treatment advice. Every plan is decided by an examination, not by an article.
