Weight-Loss Surgery.

Bariatric procedures, surgical and non-surgical, that change how much you can eat or how you absorb it.

With surgery

  • Gastric Sleeve

Removes part of the stomach, permanently reducing its capacity.

  • Gastric Bypass

Reroutes part of the digestive tract to change capacity and absorption.

Without surgery

  • Gastric Balloon

A temporary, non-surgical device placed in the stomach and later removed.

  • Gastric Botox

A non-surgical injection that temporarily slows stomach emptying.

What This Changes in Your Plan

Bariatric procedures are the beginning of a long process, not the end of one. Aftercare, diet guidance and follow-up matter more here than in any other category, and they continue after you fly home.

Four Questions Worth Asking.

A good consultation is one where you did the asking. These are the ones that change the answer for this group of procedures.

  1. Which procedure fits my BMI and medical history, and why not the others?
  2. What is irreversible here, and what is not?
  3. What does the first three months of eating actually look like?
  4. Who do I speak to about diet and follow-up once I am home?

Surgical and Non-Surgical, and Why the Difference Matters

Bariatric procedures divide into two groups that are not variations of each other. A gastric sleeve permanently removes part of the stomach; a gastric bypass reroutes part of the digestive tract and changes absorption as well as capacity. Both are surgery and both are irreversible in the ways that matter.

A gastric balloon and gastric botox are neither. They are temporary, they are not surgery, and they are removed or wear off. They answer a different question, and someone who is a candidate for one is not automatically a candidate for the other.

The Part That Happens After You Fly Home

This is the only category on this site where the operation is closer to the beginning than to the end. Eating changes, and the first months are a process rather than an event. Diet guidance, follow-up and someone to ask are worth more here than in any other group, which is why they are written into the plan instead of offered afterwards.

Your consultant remains your contact after you land. That is not a courtesy in this category; it is the part that decides whether the operation does what it was meant to do.

Why We Will Not Tell You Which Procedure to Have

Which bariatric procedure suits you depends on your medical history, your current health and an examination. We can tell you what each one involves, what is reversible and what is not, and what the follow-up looks like. We cannot tell you which is right for you from an email, and any clinic that does should worry you.

It is also a category where the honest answer is sometimes no, or not yet. If that applies, you hear it before you book flights.

Questions We Get About This Group.

Is the follow-up different for bariatric procedures?

Yes, and it matters more here than in any other category. Diet guidance and check-ins continue after you fly home; they are part of the plan rather than an extra.

Can I choose between the procedures by email?

No. Which one suits you depends on your history and on an examination. We can tell you what each involves, but not which is right for you.

What if I am not a candidate?

Then we say so. It happens, and it is far better said before you book flights than after.

Not every procedure suits every patient, and the examination on Day 1 can change the plan. That is what it is for.

Start with a Question, Not a Commitment.

Tell us what you are considering. You will get an honest answer about whether it suits you, what it involves, and what it costs, before anyone asks you to book.
